Welcome to the website of the American Heart Association Training Center at Wyoming Medical Center. We serve healthcare providers as well as people from the community, providing training in basic and advanced life support.

Basic Life Support & Advanced Cardiac Life Support

In an effort to meet the needs of the staff at WMC, we are offering classes more frequently throughout the year. However, doing this means that class sizes will be smaller, to offset the instructor needs placed on the training center. Please remember this and enroll in classes early. They fill up VERY quickly. Please make sure to look at certification expiration dates and plan FAR in advance for class needs.

Beginning in January 2009, the Center for Learning and Performance will be offering electronic renewals for both ACLS & BLS. These are for RENEWALS only. Traditional classroom style renewals will also be offered.

When looking at the 2009 schedule, you will notice classes called “ACLS One Day Renewal” & “BLS Renewal”. These are the traditional classroom style renewals. You will also notice classes called “BLS Renewal Online” and “ACLS Renewal Online.” These classes are the skills check-off days we are providing. These are in conjunction with completing an electronic version of the coursework. You MUST enroll in a skills check off station to complete your BLS or ACLS renewal. If you want to complete the electronic renewal, ONLY enroll in a skills check off time slot. If you want to take a traditional classroom style renewal, ONLY enroll in a renewal class. DO NOT enroll in both a renewal class and a skills check off time.

The electronic renewals, with the skills check off stations, will be offered ONLY at the times listed on the schedule. Special exceptions WILL NOT be made. Please plan accordingly according to when your certifications expire.

This electronic process is a trial for the first 6 months of the year. At that time, we will evaluate the process, the effectiveness, and decide if the electronic renewal options will still be offered for the rest of the year. We will keep everyone very informed on this decision.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support, ENPC, TNCC

PALS, ENPC, and TNCC will also be offered according to the dates listed on the schedule. The numbers of classes being offered is in direct relation with the number of classes we have projected are needed for our staff.

Please use your job description as a guideline for what classes you need to sign up for. If a class is not required of your job per that job description, you may take the class but you may NOT be on the time clock while taking it.
